American Idol plan

I watch American Idol. I love it. I don’t vote. I never do. The closest thing to voting I’ve done is gather the cell phones in the house and let my roommate use them to dial all at once to vote for Justin Guarinni (I think that’s who it was). I was extra excited this year when someone I kinda, sorta, talked to her a few times in a bar bathroom, and stalk her boyfriend’s cover band, was on the show. I shrieked with glee “GINA!!”, when I saw Gina Glocksen on the audition show for this season.

You can imagine my excitement for her, having chatted with her in the Joe’s bathroom about her previous experience on Idol (after which she went out and sang a great Kelly Clarkson song at my request), when she made it to through the cuts to Hollywood. Then she made it all the way to the top ten and I was thrilled. Her boyfriend, Joe (not related to the bar they play in I don’t think) and even the singer Jayson had been shown on the show….oh, sigh, and the fact that there will be a Bon Jovi week and I KNOW Gina could nail that….you can imagine now, my extreme disappointment when Gina was voted off the show this week. I was teary-eyed….over American Idol….out of anger.

I am angry that Sanjaya (and Phil & Haley) is nowhere near the musician that Gina (or several of the others voted off) is. Sanjaya continuing to be a part of the show makes mockery of the whole thing. He can sing. He can. He has a nice voice. But he CAN’T perform and he CAN’T project his voice and who in their right mind would pay any money to see him or buy a cd?! I mean really?!

It appears thousands of people agree with me and a plan has been devised. Here is the plan. I found out about it through a friend. For the first time ever, I will vote from my phone on Tuesday night. Won’t you?

In need of new hair

I’m getting bored with my hair. It’s on the shorter side of long. The highlights are growing out. It’s getting a little rough at the edges and just generally makes me dread getting ready in the morning.

I’ve always been someone who wore short hair. A short bob or super short with the spikey thing going on in the back were what anyone would picture me in. And I did the blonde highlights from 1997-2005, went back to my natural dark brown, went slightly darker, freaked out and highlighted it again last fall. I am certain I want my hair dark, but at this point in the season, it will only change with the sun, so I don’t want to waste my money…or do I just do it anyway? Ugh.

And I revisit my shorter hairstyles versus th last year and a half with longer hair and I always decide to keep it longer for now.

So what’s the problem? The problem is I’m bored and don’t feel like I have a real “style”.

So, to the right (on this page) you can see the most recent picture of how I’m wearing my hair. I don’t want to cut it too short, but I’m thinking I’d go as high as my jaw. I’m also pretty sure I want more bang. I like what I’ve got, but before this grew out it was more deliberate and I like it better covering my big forehead ;)

Below are a couple of pics I’m debating. Will you vote please? Or find me another you think would work with my hair type and face shape? THANKS!

I would love any feedback you have on these choices as well as other suggestions you think I might consider!!

He showed me the stars

When I first bought my house I loved it, but I was a tad bit concerned with living on the outskirts of town. As I got settled, I’ve started to feel less like I’m in the boonies and I’ve come to enjoy my peaceful little place.

A big step in truly appreciating the location of my home happened a few weeks ago. Mike had the baby out to potty and comes to the door and calls me outside. I head out and we stands me in the middle of the driveway and says “look up”. When I looked up, wondering what he was up to, I saw an abundance of stars that just can’t be matched in a city home. I was immediately excited and grateful to have been shown a different perspective of living in a farm area.

It wasn’t but a week later, that I called Mike to the window that was open to enjoy one of the first spring evenings. I called him over to listen. We could hear bullfrogs and crickets.

I love my home and all of the little joys it brings me everyday :)
